Sustainability panel on the Pharmaceutical Industry
As events chair for my local netimpact chapter, I thought it would be a great idea to have annual panels on the state of sustainability in our part of the world. Last year we sponsored one with Rutgers University and had local but well known of companies such as Campbell soups, Church & Dwight and Dupont speak.
This year we decided to target pharmaceutical companies in and around NJ since we have so many leading pharma companies right here. It was a huge success with over 100 attendees. Our panelists represented companies such as Merck, Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi Aventis and consulting firms in sustainability.
It was encouraging to know that every company and the leaders within are trying their best to make a positive impact through their jobs and companies and getting recognized in the process.
The audience was very intelligent and intuitive too. Questions ranged from the role of education in preventing diseases in the first place to figuring out a value similar to ROI to make sustainability make its mark on wall street and hence into the real world.
Topics covered where:
Access to Medicines
Careers in sustainability
Late to the game: pharma and sustainability
pharmaceuticals in the environment (PIE)
Green initiatives particular to the industry
We compiled a list of resources shared by the panelists and you get to read it without attending the panel although attending it would have been much more fun!
