I have been learning french on and off for two years now. I have been watching french movies for a much longer period and is one of the reasons I wanted to learn french in the first place. Today, I learnt about #Agnesvarda passing away. She was 90 yrs old and one of the #greatestwomendirectors of all times and one of the #bestfrenchdirectors of all times as well. I thought as a homage to her, I would blog about french movies and mention some that in my eyes are spectacular and worth watching again and again.
My all time favorite and one that I have probably watched more times than I can remember is " The Diving Bell and the Butterfly aka Le Scaphandre et le Papillon". It's the true story of a normal person who's life changed in one minute after one accident that made him completely paralyzed. It's one of the most #inspiringmovies of my life.
Another fun and offbeat movie I came across is My best friend (mon meilleur ami). I liked the notion of how we all need friends; no matter how adequate we might feel.
Over the years I have been lucky enough to see some truly #phenomenalmovies such as #les quatre cents coups, #La vie d'Adèle (blue is the warmest color), #julesetjim, #lavienrose, #belledejour, #Labelleetlabete (beauty and the beast), #Les Parapluies de Cherbourg.
Each one was breathtaking and added a little more to my life. My life is richer and more complex having seen these movies.
I want to end this blog by coming back to Agnes Verda. I have to admit I have not seen any of the movies she made but I promise I will see at least 10 of her movies this year. The one movie I have seen though is just so beautiful; it made me feel happy to be alive after watching it. It was #facesplaces that created beauty all around french villages by creating life sized posters of ordinary human faces and bringing their beauty to our attention.
In the end, I would like to just say, les french films sont super et incredible. Vous regardez sil vous plait.
